FOCUS on Energy Reduction

FOCUS on Energy Reduction
is a community education project facilitated by the Hunter Regional Environmental Educators Network. The project aims to empower residents to learn more about energy consumption and energy efficiency within the home.  The project provides access for residents to an Energy Reduction Kit which inlcudes a Power Usage Meter for the purpose of conducting a home energy audit.  The kits provide the necessary tools to discover the energy consumption of every day appliances, the cost to run the appliance per week, month or year and calculations to find out the greenhouse gas emissions, based on usage. The project included the development of a booklet of energy saving information, a home energy audit activity and a workshop manual and presentation.

The FOCUS on Energy Reduction kits are available in 62 branch libraries and 2 Council customer service areas across the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid North Coast of NSW.  The project was developed by HCCREMS funded through the FOCUS on Sustainability program as a climate change initiative.
