Current Activities
Current activities
being delivered under the "FOCUS on Sustainability" program include:
Regional urban water events providing professional development opportunities to councils and others to build their skills and capacity to deliver Water Sensitive Urban Design.
Revising and promoting guidance that we have produced in the past for this region:
• The Model Planning Provisions for Water (2007, and to be revised to reflect recent changes to NSW Planning and development control legislation and practice).
• The
Water Smart Practice Notes (2007, to be revised to reflect recent advances in water smart practice at the single lot and small precinct scale).
• The website Urbanwater.info
• The website of WSUD demonstration sites: urbanwatersites.info
FOCUS on Facilities which aims to help HCCREMS Councils save water and energy in their own facilities.
FOCUS on Natural Assets is exploring how the natural
assets under council's care and control can be including in council's Asset Management Systems. Natural assets of interest include urban creeks, wetlands, street trees and urban bushland. Natural assets often provide a similar 'service' to built assets - for example, urban creeks providing a 'stormwater' service.
