Detailed Description

Newcastle City Council's Creek Assessment Manual provides easy to understand field guidance and inspection sheets as 'ready to use' materials that can be used to undertake assessments according to council's creek condition assessment method. 

The condition assessment method sets out a scoring system that takes into account:

  • riparian zone vegetation,
  • creek geomorphology habitat,
  • instream creek habitats and
  • infrastructure.

The Manual is very well illustrated to assist trained field inspectors consistently rate condition across different types of urban creeks.

The creek condition methodology is part of a larger Natural Asset Management Preservation Plan.
