The Coastal Advisory Group is an informal group, that meets on an as needs basis to discuss issues that are of Coastal, Marine and Estuary significance. Membership of the group is diverse and includes both professional and community members.
The role of CAG is to develop and promote events that build the professional capacity of its members, share information regarding coastal management issues, and provide co-ordinated input on coastal and marine issues to relevant Natural Resource Management plans, strategies and projects.
The Coastal Advisory Group has been running since 2005 and in that time has implemented a number of different activities. These include:
- Formal meetings to provide expert advice on coastal and marine issues to inform the content , management targets and investment priorities contained in the Hunter-Central Rivers Catchment Action Plan.
- 2 field trips to examine and discuss coastal management issues, and to enhance engagement and communication between coastal professionals and community groups involved in coastal protection and rehabilitation.
- A seminar based forum incorporating a number of guest speakers involved in coastal management initiatives and research.
