Hunter Councils Environment Division has recently completed the “Beat the Heat” project and launched a suite of community education materials including posters, flyers, webpage content, social media content, newsletter articles, scripts for Community Service Announcements, e-mail alerts and text alerts to promote heatwave awareness and preparedness.
Recognising that heatwaves can have serious impacts on community health and are a major cause of health problems every summer in Australia. Local Health Districts, Primary Health Care providers, Councils, Community Service Organisations, and community volunteer groups worked with Hunter Councils on the development of the resources.
