Regional Forums – Is Your Council Disaster Ready?
Five NSW Disaster Ready Councils forums were delivered as the first stage of the joint State and Commonwealth Natural Disaster Resilience Program funded project “Integrating Disaster Preparedness into Local Government Operations through the Integrated Planning & Reporting Framework.” The forums were designed and arranged by the Hunter Joint Organisation of Councils (HJOC) with collaborative input into delivery by the NSW Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and Statewide Mutual.
The forums were designed, in part, to meet project Objective 1, that is “To substantially raise awareness in Councils across NSW of the opportunities for building organisational and community resilience to natural disasters across their key functional areas”.
Five forums were held across regional NSW in the following locations.
- Maitland – 23 October 2017
- Coffs Harbour – 27 October 2017
- Queanbeyan – 30 October 2017
- Wagga Wagga – 1 November 2017
- Dubbo – 3 November 2017
The agenda for each forum included four presentations, including a case study from each region and a workshop session. The workshop sessions were designed to inform the next stage of the project.
